Finance minister puts 2023 budget deficit at 1% of GDP

MOSCOW, Nov 22 (PRIME) -- Russia's budget deficit is expected at about 1% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2023, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said on Wednesday.

"It is expected at about 1% (of the GDP). (We) initially (expected) 2% (of the GDP)," Siluanov said. "Additional oil and gas income comes nicely. The economy is working, and the growth rate allows us to expect a higher budget income."

Budget deficit stood at 1.235 trillion rubles, or 0.7% of the GDP in January–October after 0.2% of the GDP in the same period of 2022. The current budget law envisages a 2.925 trillion ruble deficit, or 2% of the GDP.
